Francis de Sales

Francis de Sales (1567–1622) was a bishop, and spiritual writer whose gentle wisdom continues to guide Christians in the life of faith. Born in Savoy, he became Bishop of Geneva and was known for his patient pastoral care, persuasive preaching, and deep commitment to helping ordinary believers grow in holiness. His classic works, including Introduction to the Devout Life and Treatise on the Love of God, emphasize that devotion is not reserved for monks and clergy but is possible in every vocation and season of life. He was canonized in 1665 and remains a beloved guide to practical, grace-filled spirituality.
