She was involved extensively in church activities and served on the leadership committee of several ministries. Mrs. Cole served in the U.S. Coast Guard. She ministered throughout the world as a featured speaker and with her husband, and was a guest at the White House in both church and government-related capacities. Her special interests included being an active grandmother and giving of herself regularly to help the disadvantaged and widowed.
